Susannah was born the daughter of Watemon Augustus Jones and Esther "Hessie" Stewart of Morgan County Tennessee.

Her father brought the family into Illinois and settled near what would become Waverly in Morgan County.

Susannah married Thomas England on March 21 1841 [Thomas' obituary states "1844"] in Morgan County Illinois.
