Brice was born the son of Watemon Jones and Esther Stewart in Morgan Co TN. His namesake was Brice Stewart, Esther's father.

Brice's father Watemon had emigrated out of Franklin County Virginia [just south of Rocky Mount] to Tennessee in 1814. They purchased land, some families in Roane County, some Morgan County, & some in Robertson County. They farmed and raised their children in that area until moving on in the 1827 to 1830 period.

At that time Brice's father, Watemon, brought his little family north into Morgan County IL and settled a few miles south west of what is now the village of Waverly. Brice grew to manhood on the family farm.

He married Lavina Thomas September 22 1839 in Morgan Co IL. In census of Morgan Co IL 1850 he was shown as head of house, farmer with 400 acres.

Together they had these children:
1. Nancy Jones [1841]
2. Edward Jones [1843]
3. Martha Jones [1846]
4. William Newton Jones [1847]
5. Watemon Jones [1852]

Brice's life was cut short at age 35. I'm not aware if Lavina remarried or where she spent the remainder of her life.

In the 1860 census Morgan Co IL:
Brice's children Edward 17, Martha 14, and William Newton 11 were living with a foster family; the Ashlocks [though the spelling of that name is in question].
