Denzil Rutherford "Pete" Burton, 86 years, 3 months and 1 day of age, departed this life on Friday, May 25th, 2012 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Somerset, kentucky.

Pete was born on February 24th, 1926, son of the late Crolee C. Burton and Nillie Muse Burton. Pete was of the Nazarene faith and attended the Science Hill Nazerene Church. He was a retired mechanic and a Green Thumb Worker at Science Hill School.

Pete was survived by one daughter, Judy (and Gene) Phillippi; two sisters, Eva Jones and Eardean (and Chester) Cain; two grandchildren, Jeff (and Leisa) Phillippi and Kristy Hunley; four great grand children, Allison Phillippi, Dylan Phillipi, Rachel Hunley, and Alex Hunley; a special niece, Carylene (and Curtis) Flynn; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Crolee and Nillie Burton; three brothers, Arnold Burton, Wallace Burton, and Lawrence Burton; and four sisters, Elma Jones, Aubrey Smith, Marlyn Burton, and Madlyn Burton.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, May 30th, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky with Bro. David Muse officiating.

The Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky was entrusted with the arrangements for Pete.
