The deceased was born in Birmingham, England in 1815, was married to Elizabeth Loxley at Malvern, Worcestershire in 1841, coming to America in 1843 residing in New York for a few years, then moving to Newark, N.J., where he was engaged for seven years in the manufacturing business. In 1855, he came to Wisconsin and purchased the farm in Cold Spring where he has since resided.
Mr. Sheriff is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters all of whom were present at the funeral except Ellen Curtis of Seattle. Whitewater Review January 8, 1904
