Death of a Former Resident.
Thomas Martin Boone died at his home in Sylvia, on Friday night, Dec. 7th. He was born in Clark County, Kentucky, May 10, 1827. He lived in Indiana 15 years, then came to Stafford county, Kansas, in 1881, and lived for several years in East Cooper township. He became a Christian when but a lad and cherished his hope to the end of his days. His father was a Baptist preacher. Brother Boone's first wife was Miss Mildred Elkins; she died Oct 1, 1893. He was married to his present wife in 1894. She has faithfully and lovingly cared for him through all his declining years. He was the father of twelve children, six have gone on before. Of the remaining six, four were with him in his last hours -- Mrs. Mattie Fishback, Mrs. Lucy Pruner, Samuel and Chas. T. Boone. The funeral service was preached by Rev. J. G. Smiley in the Methodist church to a large and sympathetic congregation. A number were present from Stafford county who were friends long ago.
