Mary Bird Travis, wife of William Travis, Jr., passed away yesterday at their home 160 East Thirty-seventh street. Her child died at birth last week. Mrs. Travis was a daughter of R.P. Bird of McMinnville, County Judge of Yamhill County. Her parents and her sister, Miss Kathleen Bird, were present when she died. Two brothers, Guy K. and Robert A. Bird also survive. Until her marriage a year ago, Mrs. Travis was, for a number of years, a teacher in Portland public schools. She was born 27 years ago in Lafayette, Yamhill County, where her girlhood was spent. The family removed to McMinnville in 1895. Mrs. Travis had many warm friends both in Portland and in Yamhill County, to whom the news of her pathetic demise will come as a sad shock.
