Mrs. Emma M. Salm, 86, of the Oak Ridge Garden Nursing Home, Menasha, and formerly of Chilton, died Wednesday, May 2, at the nursing home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 22, 1893, in Hayton, Calumet County, a daughter of Joseph and Mathilda Anders Koehler. On Oct. 29, 1918, she was married to George N. Salm at Chilton. Her husband died on May 9, 1965. The couple had farmed in the town of Chilton their entire married lives. Mrs. Salm was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Chilton, and its Christian Mothers Society.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Hilary (Genevieve) Mueller, R. 3, Chilton, Sister Bernice Salm O.S.F. of Campbellsport, Sister Patrick Salm O.S.F. of Appleton and Mrs. John (Jeanette) Lynch of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Lester, of Appleton; 23 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A daughter, a granddaughter, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral Mass was Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rev. Paul Brick, pastor, was celebrant. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
