Jacob Gray Dies in
Midland Friday
Funeral services were held at
the Skeels Baptist Church Monday
afternoon at 2:30 for Jacob Gray.
Jacob Albert Gray was born
May 4, 1852 in Noble County, Indiana
and died at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. Frank Poland of
Midland, August 29th. Mr. Gray
was married to Margaret Blackburn
in Indiana on April 2, 1874
and to them were born eight children,
six daughters and two sons.
Mr. and Mrs. Gray came to
Gladwin county before Sherman
township was organized and Mr.
Gray was instrumental in bringing
about the papers for this township's
organization. He was a
charter member of the Skeels Free
Will Baptist Church and assisted
in its organization in 1894. The
first church was built in 1895,
which was replaced by the present
building in 1913. Mrs. Gray and
two daughters preceded Mr. Gray
in death.
Surviving Mr. Gray are four
daughters and two sons; Mrs.
Stella Ordiway, Mrs. Elmer Cassiday
and Mrs. Warren Cuddie, all
of Gladwin, Mrs. Frank Poland of
Midland and Nathan and Walter
Gray of Gladwin, 31 grandchildren
and 51 great grandchildren, besides
other relatives and friends.

Marriage records show Jacob married Fannie Teeple on January 13, 1916 in Gladwin and they were divorced. He then married Mrs. Julia Ann Morrow August 8, 1917 in Gladwin. Another marriage to Anna Marie Moore Boughner in 1921 in Midland and she died 1931 in Gladwin.
