Isaac J. Lamplaugh, 88, died July 13, 1997, at his home in North Platte. He was born Nov. 13, 1908, to Harry and Sarah Welch Lamplaugh at North Platte, where he grew up and attended schools. On Aug. 6, 1934, he married Irene Jeffers. She preceded him in death on June 14, 1996.

Mr. Lamplaugh served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by Lamplaugh Ice, and from 1933 to 01973, he worked for Union Pacific Railroad. They lived in Ogden, Utah, from 1949 to 1969. He was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors included three sisters, Olivia Snyder of Omaha, Inez Bithell of Phoenix, and Lucille Percy of North Platte; a brother, Edward of North Platte; two nephews he raised, Chris (Mitzy) Hayes of North Platte and Jim (Susan) Hayes of Seattle, and other nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Minnie and Ida Lamplaugh and Frances Myer, and a brother, Harold. A memorial has been established to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment Trust.

Christian Wake services will be at 7 p.m. today at Adams and Swanson Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with the Rev. R.L. Piontkowski Jr. as Celebrant. Burial will be in Fort McPherson national Cemetery with military honors graveside.
