Ruth Coe was the 3rd of 4 children born to Oliver & Nancy (Buell) Coe. She was raised in Greene County, NY where as a young woman she met Heinrich Wilhelm (Henry William) Brandt who not long before had emigrated from Germany and was managing a local tannery. She and Heinrich/Henry Brandt married in Greene Co, NY in 1838, and later moved to Harmony Center (later renamed Brandt at Henry's passing in 1886), Susquehanna Co, PA. Ruth and Henry Brandt had 11 children, 9 of whom survived her: Nancy H. (Brandt) Kessler; Charlotte (Brandt) Moon; Henry Brandt; Harriet S. (Brandt) Wing; Winfield Scott Brandt; Putnam Proctor Brandt; Helen O (Brandt) Peterson; Jacob S. Brandt; Gustavus A. Brandt; Josephine (Brandt) Stickley; and Schuyler Coe Brandt. Ruth Coe Brandt died a year after beloved husband Henry/Henrich did--both are interred in the family plot in the Brandt Cemetery.
