Mrs. Julia Stewart Dies In Peoria At 73

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Stewart, former resident of the Princeville community, were conducted at the Wilton mortuary chapel in Peoria yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. John Reynolds.

Mrs. Stewart, 73 years old, widow of Walter Stewart and a resident of Peoria for the past 44 years died at 5:20 a. m. Monday, May 4, at the St. Francis hospital. She has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Verna McKinley, 2824 North Madison.

The daughter of Henry and Emma Virginia Metzel Hammer, she was born in Princeville Sept. 8. 1868. She married Walter Stewart in Pekin on April 9, 1918. He preceded her in death in Peoria, Nov. 27, 1933.

She leaves two daughters, Mrs. McKinley and Mrs. Letha Taneyhill, both of Peoria; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Custer, Mrs. Cora Harbers and Mrs. Della Koch, also of Peoria; four brothers, Charles Hammer of Kickapoo, William and Fred Hammer, both of Princeville, and John Hammer of Edelestein; three grandchildren. Three children, a sister and a brother preceded her in death.
