Norman C. Workman, 79, of 514 34th St. NE, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1993, in his home after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Martin Miller. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Vida; three sons, Norman of Cedar Rapids, Harold of Naperville, Ill., and Randall of Ipan-Talofofo, Guam; a brother, Oscar Jr. of Westminster, Calif.; and a sister, Jean Woods of Green Bay, Wis.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren.
Norman was born to Oscar and Martha Workman on Jan. 22, 1914, in Walker. After graduating from Vinton High School in 1933, he attended the University of Iowa. On June 17, 1939, he married Vida C. Heckert. For 12 years he owned and worked in a shoe shop in Cedar Rapids and then worked for 28 years for Collins Radio as a test technician until his retirement in 1979. He was active in and held various offices at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church and was active in Boy Scouts with Troop 108 for 23 years. He and Vida enjoyed years of camping and square dancing.
