Bettie Ann Christensen, 88, Bryant, SD, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her home near Bryant. A Memorial Service has been set for 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Our Redeemer Luttheran Church with Rev. Renee Tecklenburg officiating. Burial will be at Scandinavian Cemetery. Osthus Funeral Home in Bryant is in charge of arrangements.
Bettie Ann Christensen was born January 3, 1924 to parents August and Anna (Norgaard) Nystrom near Estelline, SD where she grew up and attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Nels Christensen in 1942 at the Bryant Parsonage. They lived around Bryant and then settled on a farm east of Bryant in 1948. Bettie worked on the farm, milked cows, and raised her three children.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Christensen, Bryant, SD; one son Calvin Christensen, Hudson, CO; one grandson Ben Peterson, Watertown, SD; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nels, one daughter, Merri Joy, 1 brother, and 4 sisters.
