Melissa Ann Christensen, 72, of Bryant, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Scandinavian Cemetery near Bryant, with Rev. Randy Eisenbiesz officiating. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Melissa Ann Christensen was born on July 6, 1949, in Estelline, SD, the daughter of Nels and Betty Ann (Nystrom) Christensen. She grew up southwest of Bryant and attended and graduated from Bryant High School. She continued her education at the University of South Dakota receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Melissa went on to teach nursing for a number of years before beginning her career at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Upon her retirement she returned to Bryant to care for her mother until her passing.

Melissa enjoyed watching movies, was an animal lover and had a special place her heart for children, especially babies.

She is surived by her nephew, Ben (Erica) Petersen; brother-in-law, Dennis Petersen as well as a number of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Calvin Christensen and sister, Merri Petersen.
