Morton Henry Howe, 81, of North Bennington VT, died Dec. 7, 2003, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington VT. He was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Wilmington, the son of Ernest and Rosa (Scranton) Howe.

He attended schools in Wilmington and worked on the family farm. He continued farming at his brother's farm and the Adams Farm, owned by his sister and brother-in-law. He married Marie Farrington in August 1953 in Whitingham VT.

Mr. Howe was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He worked at Fairdale Farms Dairy and the Green Mountain Furniture Manufacturing Co., and later part-time at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center from which he retired. He was a member of North Bennington Baptist Church. Mr. Howe enjoyed working on his property, especially in his gardens.

He was predeceased by his sister Agnes Atherton and brothers Harold, Jasper, and Francis Howe.
