A retired oilfield worker, Mr. Smith was born Feb 18, 1915, in Goliad, to the late Robert and Lula Gray Smith. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and was a veteran of World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wayne Frank Funeral Home with the Rev. F. E. Eilers officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Jackson, Kenneth and Elroy Loest, Pruitt Slaughter, T. Y. Urban and Don Kahn.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elfie Smith and a daughter Mrs. Linda Cavallin, both of Goliad; four sons, Garland Smith of Goliad, James Smith of Dallas, Dennis Smith of Houston and Larry Smith of Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle McDonald of Rockport, Mrs. Ruth Newman of Palacios and Mrs. Margaret Easter of Rockport; two brothers Fred and Calvin Smith of Alice and eight grandchildren.
