VICTORIA - James R. "Jimmy" Smith, 68, of Victoria, passed away Aug. 2, 2011. He was born March 4, 1943, in Goliad, to the late Alton Claude and Elfie Marie Boehl Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Dee Ann Smith of Richmond, Sheila Smith and life partner Patricia Nelson of San Antonio, Karen Vogel and husband Jack of St. Louis, Mo., Brandy Smith of Richmond, and Teresa Winckler and husband John of San Antonio; his best friend, Rusty; step-sons, Robert Stehle and wife Andrea of San Antonio and Christopher Stehle and wife Andrea of Inez; brother, Dennis Smith of Victoria; and grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Sean Smith, Aidan Vogel, John Vogel, Monica Stehle, Amanda Stehle, Linda Stehle, Brandon Stehle, Kristen Stehle and Abigail Winckler.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Stehle Smith; brothers, Garland and Larry Smith; and sister, Linda Simoneaux.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad, Pastor Dan Zellmer officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Jack Vogel, Brandon Stehle, Garland Smith Jr., Marshal Frazier, Michael Carson and Nathan Smith.
