Floyd Edward Bingaman Sr., 81, of 910 Chestnut St., Hagerstown, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Colton Villa Nursing Center. Born Sept. 5, 1916, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Clara E. Beard Bingaman. He retired from Maryland Correctional Institution. He was previously employed by Superior Dairy Inc. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He attended Hagerstown Grace Brethren Church. He was a member of Alsatia Club and Elks Lodge 378. He is survived by his wife, Zona M. Ruth Bingaman; one daughter, Eleanora M. "Sue" Wiles of Hagerstown; three sons, Deryle E. Bingaman of Hagerstown, Robert L. Bingaman of Mount Airy, Md., and Floyd E. Bingaman Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Dorothy E. Grumbine of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Bingaman and Charles H. Bingaman. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Denny Brown and the Rev. Robert L. Dell will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests the omission of flowers.
