Maas Maassen, 86, of Sioux Center died Saturday in a hospital in Sioux Center.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home. The Rev. A.M. Den Boer officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family visitation was from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. Maassen was born March 2, 1898, in The Netherlands. He came to the United States at the age of 9.
He married Tillie Driesen Feb. 22,1927, at Rock Valley. He farmed most of his life in the Rock Valley area. In 1965 they moved to Sioux Center. She died March 2, 1968.
Survivors include one son, Raymond of Rock Valley; three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Frances) Rus of Rock Valley, Mrs. John (Eillen) Klootwyk and Mrs. Andrew (Sally) Koedam, both of Sheldon; one brother, Gerrit of Rock Valley; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Effie) Van Ginkel and Mrs. Jake (Jennie) Van Voorst, both of Rock Valley; 26 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
