Harold was the son of Nicolai and Bridt (Aune) Hawkinson.

Obituary, Dunn County News, Apr 5, 1917:
"Harold C. Hawkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholi Hawkinson, was born June 5, 1901, and died March 29, at his home in North Menomonie, the cause of the death being diabetes. Last fall he started in the eighth grade of the public schoools but in November was forced to withdraw due to the sickness, and the Monday night before his death he suddenly took worse. He was confirmed in the United Norwegian Lutheran church last spring by Rev. A. T. Tollevs. To mourn his loss he leaves his parents, a sister, Mrs. V. P. Cheney of Minneapolis, and Oscar, Odin, and Olena at home. The funeral took place Monday at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock at the church, Rev. A. T. Tollevs officiating. Interment was made in the Halvorson cemetery."
