Bridt was born Bridt Johnsdatter in Rindal, Norway, on the farm Boersth, where her family lived. Between 1860 and 1875, the family moved to the farm Aune, in Rindalen; hence the surname Aune was added to her name. They lived at Storholtan on the farm Aune. Bridt moved from the farm Aune to Strinda in 1885, where she married Nicolai. Their first two children were born in Norway. Nicolai left for America in 1887. Bridt and their two children followed a year later. Bridt was remembered in her obituary as being kind, affectionate, sympathetic, and even-tempered. She was active in the North Menomonie Norwegian Lutheran (now Christ Lutheran) Church and Ladies Aid Society for 45 years. She was also a member of the Scandinavian Sisters of America. The obituary states that seven of her children preceded her in death; four children survived her.
