Born near Lake Butler on March 14, 1896, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late G.W. Alderman, long time Bradford County clerk of the circuit court. She graduated from Columbia College when it was located in Lake City and was a school teacher at the time of her marriage, having taught in Dade, Lake, and Bradford Counties.
Mrs. White moved from Starke to Tallahassee in 1932 with her husband, George C. White, who is now City Clerk and auditor for the City of Tallahassee. She was active in religious and community affairs in Tallahassee; a member of Trinity Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School classes and served on the Official Board., and also served as President of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She had been President of the Tallahassee Garden Club and the Tallahassee Hemerocallis Society.
Besides her husband, and her mother, Mrs. Dora Alderman, of Starke, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jack Shoemaker, of Tallahassee; three sisters, Mrs. L.A. Canova, Starke; Mrs. Cora Marshburn, Keystone Heights; and Mrs. James Otto, Bay Pines; two brothers, T.J. Alderman, Hampton; and G. Carl Alderman, Baltimore, Maryland; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Methodist Church. Officiating ministers were Dr. H. Melton Ware, Pastor of Trinity Methodist Church; Dr. Laurie G. Ray, Superintendent of the West Palm Beach District of the Methodist Church; and Dr. Leo King, Pastor of St. Paul's. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Tallahassee.
