John Bell, 70, of 513 Fifth Avenue died Sunday at his home following a short illness.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the George L. Gay Funeral Home with burial in Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart Fund.

Mr. Bell was born Aug. 7, 1901, at Lone Tree, son of John and Susan Kane Bell. He married Doris Wolter July 6, 1920, at Lone Tree. He farmed near Lone Tree until moving to Iowa City in 1940. He was a carpenter in Iowa City. He was a member of the Reformed Church in Lone Tree.

He is survived by his widow; a son, Thomas of Riverside; three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Gloria) O'Harra and Mrs. Joseph (Colleen) Taddonio of Iowa City, and Mrs. Charles (Glenda) Lyle of Downers Grove, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Hacke of Tucson, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
