Married to Edna Roper.

Children: Herman, Sardis, Sollie, Lewis, Juanita, and Mae Doris.

Parents Joseph Duncan Forrester and Martha Jane Antley.

My grandfather died when I was 5 years old so I never got to know him really well. I do remember him sitting in a rocking chair in front of his fireplace one winter evening and I remember several other relatives doing the same thing that evening. I remember that all of them... or most of them... were chewing tobacco while they had a conversation. He made his living as a carpenter, mostly doing construction. Grandfather injured himself in his backyard (I believe with an ax)and he died from gangrene. In an attempt to save his life, the doctors had removed one of his legs just prior to his death.

At the time of his death, Connie and his wife Edna owned 2 small homes. The first home was their main residence and is located at 3988 County Road 203, Dothan, Alabama. Connie built this home in 1954. There daughter, my Aunt Juanita and husband Uncle "Mac" William McMullan lived next door at 4022 County Road 203... Connie also built this house in 1955. The 2nd home that he and Edna owned was a cottage located at 1202 Maine Avenue, Lynn Haven, Florida. This was their "get-away" cottage and was used for hunting oysters and fishing. They had also bought this cottage in 1954, but the house had been built in 1946 by someone else. This small house was originally a 3 - room cabin consisting of a kitchen - living area, a bedroom, and a small bathroom.
