Early Life: Pearl was born June 18, 1930, in Provo, Utah, the daughter of John Melvin and Martha Vivian Skinner Long. She attended Farrer Junior High School, later moving to Tintic where she graduated from the Tintic High School.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: In 1947, she married Stanley Irwin "Bus" Jones in Nephi, Utah. They were later divorced. On August 17, 1956, she married Ronald E. "Ron" Bertelsen in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following this marriage, she lived in Springville, Utah. Their divorce was granted a few days before her passing. Pearl was named rodeo queen in Eureka in 1947. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pearl Mary Long Jones Bertelsen, of Springville, was killed when the car she was driving crashed out of control. Four others were injured. The one-car crash occurred late Thursday, April 30, 1959, just south of Eureka. Pearl was 28.
Survived By: Her parents, Eureka; three sons: Allan and Kenneth Jones, of Eureka; and Ryan E. Bertelsen, Springville; three brothers and two sisters: Wesley N. Long, Orem; Bob R., Jack Long, and Darlene Long, all of Eureka; and Vivian Connelly (Wallace), Provo.
