Died at the age of 78 at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans. Was president of Alexius Brothers Co., Inc., a Covington hardware firm established in 1907. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a former vestryman of that church. A native of New Orleans he held the distinction of being in the 1st graduating class of old Tulane High School. After working with the L&N Railroad for 12 years, in the New Orleans area, he moved to Covington in 1907 to establish his hardware and building materials business. He was a member of the New Orleans Ocean Lodge No. 144, F&AM, a membership he held for over 50 years. He also served as an alderman in Covington from 1936 to 1948 and was, until his death, a member of the Board of Directors of the Citizens Bank & Trust Co.

He was survived by his widow, Gertrude Haller Alexius; one son, Haller Alexius of Covington; one daughter, Mrs. Caroline Hebert of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John A. Wadsworth of New Orleans and Mrs. O. L. Alexius of Covington and two brothers, John Alexius of Wilmington, NC and Horace Alexius of Covington.

Burial rites were conducted by the Rev. Bruce Shepperd of Bogalusa, LA at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington.
