Emma E Williams was born Oct 23, 1876, in Franklin County, Georgia. She was the second of nine known daughters born to James Martin Epp "Eppy" Williams (1853 – 1917) and Essie Adeline "Effie" Ayers (1857 – 1942).

The 1880 census showed 4 year old Emma E Williams living with her parents and 2 other siblings on a farm in District 211, Franklin County, Georgia. The Williams family was in Enumeration District #29, Dwelling #40, and Family #43. The Household was listed as follows: 26 year old Eppie M Williams as Head, 22 year old wife Essie A, 5 year old daughter Mary E J, 4 year old Emma E, and 1 year old Nancy S. Both Eppie and Essie Ayers Williams were born in Georgia as were their children. Occupation for Eppie Williams was listed as Farmer; Essie, Keeping House. Both Eppie and Essie were able to read and write.

The 1900 census had Emer (Emma) E Williams living on a Farm with her parents in the Flintsville District of Franklin County, Georgia, Enumeration District 24, Dwelling #19, and Family #21 and #20 of the Farm Schedule. The household consisted of: 46 year old Ep M Williams as Head, 43 year old wife Effie A, 22 year old daughter Emer (Emma) E, 20 year old daughter Nancy S, 18 year old daughter Francis H, 13 year old daughter Liddie L (Lydia Ann), 12 year old daughter Vinnie D, 8 year old daughter Bertha, 5 year old daughter Addie, 3 year old daughter Bernice, and 27 year old Boarder Milt Ayers. Effie was the mother of 11 children with 9 living at the time of the census. Both Ep and Effie were born in Georgia, as were all of the children. Ep is noted to have been a Farmer who owned his farm free of a mortgage and was listed #19 of the farm schedule. Other occupations were listed as: Francis H - At School for 5 months of the year; Liddie (Lydia), Vinnie and Bertha - Attending School for 5 months of the year; Boarder Milt Ayers was noted as a Farmer and paying Rent in the Home. Everyone in the household was able to read and write except the two youngest children and the Boarder. Of note, daughter Eliza, her Husband Will Hemphill and their son lived on the next farm as listed on the census schedule.

At some time during the year prior to the 1910 census, 33 year old Emma E Williams married 33 year old Robert E Bush, probably in Franklin County, Georgia. At the time of the census the couple was living on a farm owned by Robert free of any mortgage, in the 812 Stranges District of Franklin County, Georgia, Enumeration District #46, dwelling #125, family #127, and #122 of the farm schedule. The household consisted of 33 year old Robert E Bush as Head, 33 year old wife Emma E, and 19 year old Servant William Pullam. Emma had not yet had any children. Occupations were listed as: Robert - Farmer; Emma - no occupation listed; William Pullam - Farm Laborer for a Private Family and he paid no rent. All members of the household were able to read and write and no one had attended school since Sept 1 that previous year.

Emma was widowed on Jun 9, 1910, less than two months following the census. Emma had not been pregnant for very long with their only child Bobbi at the time of Robert's death. Robert was buried in the Hunters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Carnesville, Franklin County, Georgia. They had been married for a year or less when Robert died.

In 1920 the 40 (43) year old widow Mrs Emma Bush lived with her widowed mother Mrs Ed Williams on the farm where she had grown up. The farm was in Enumeration District 39 of the Flintsville District in Franklin County, Georgia, and listed as Dwelling #22, Family #24, and #23 on the Farm Schedule. The dwelling and farm were owned by Mrs Ed Williams free of a mortgage. The household consisted of the 62 year old widow Mrs Ed Williams as Head, 23 year old daughter Bernice, 40 (43) year old widow Emma Bush and her 8 year old son (daughter, it was incorrectly listed on the census as son) Bobbi, 33 year old widow Lydelia (Lydia Ann) Addison and her two daughters 14 year old Olis and 10 year old Lucile (Lucille). All members of the household were born in Georgia. The three minor children had attended school at some time since Sep 1 of 1919. Everyone was able to read and write. Occupations were listed as: Mrs Ed Williams - Farmer on Home Farm; Bernice Williams- Cooking at House; Emma Bush - Housekeeping; Lydelia (Lydia Ann) Addison - none; the three minor children - at School.

The 1930 census found the 48 (53) year old widow Emma Bush living with her 73 year old mother in a home located in Enumeration District 129-5 at 149 Franklin Street, South of the Sou RR in Toccoa City, Stephens County, Georgia. The residence was listed as Dwelling #263, Family #280 and was not a farm. Effie Williams paid $25 Rent for the residence; Wake Rice did not pay rent as a Boarder. The household boasted a radio set. The household consisted of: 73 year old widow Effie Williams as Head, 48 (53) year old widow Emma Bush and her 19 year old daughter (Bobbie) Bush, 32 year old widow Bernice LeCroy and her 6 year old daughter Eloise LeCroy, and 37 year old Boarder Wake Rice. All members of the Family were born in Georgia; Wake Rice was born in South Carolina. The minor child Eloise LeCroy had attended school at some time since Sep 1, 1929. All members of the household except Eloise LeCroy were able to read and write. Listed occupations were as follows: Effie Williams and Emma Bush - none, Bernice LeCroy, Department Store Saleslady; (Bobbie) Bush - Jewelry Store Saleslady; Wake Rice - Garage Mechanic. Emma Bush continued to live in the Toccoa, Stephens County area until the time of her death. At some time after Emma Bush's daughter Bobbie Bush married Carl Sosebee in 1935 and probably after the death of her mother in 1942, Emma Bush lived in the home of Bobbie and Carl Sosebee. Emma Bush never remarried following the death of her husband in Jun of 1910. Emma Williams Bush died at the age of 95 on Jun 3, 1972, in Toccoa, Stephens County, Georgia.
