Mrs. Hazel Jeanette McGavin, 59, long time resident of Idaho Falls, and the wife of George McGavin, died Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital of a lingering illness.
She was born March 27, 1903 at Irwin, to James M. and Jeanette Weeks Tanner and she spent her early childhood days at Irwin. In 1915 she met George McGavin at Etna, Wyoming, and they were married in Idaho Falls, June 12, 1919. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, June 5, 1954. After their marriage they lived at Etna and Thayne, Wyoming and moved to Idaho Falls in 1925.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and a member of the Relief Society.
Beside her husband, she is survived by the following sons and daughters, Wilford, Orvin, Mrs. Marvin (Wanda) Shurtliff, Mrs LaMar (Helen) Leatham, Mrs. Jay (Clara) Stacy, all of Idaho Falls; Glenn, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Dale (Verla) Randall, Grant; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Roy Tanner, Menan; Mrs. Clay Peterson, Archer; Mrs. Ben Sheat, Parma.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the LDS 8th Ward with Bishop Garren L. Peterson officiating.
Interment will be Rose Hill Cemetery.
