Clara Irene Stacey, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Center surrounded by her loving family.

Clara was born March 25, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Hazel Jeanette Tanner and George Gee McGavin. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School. On March 14, 1953, she married Earl Jay Stacey in Idaho Falls.

Clara was a member of Alliance Covenant. She loved her family and spending time with the grandchildren. She and her sweetheart shared a life of 61 years of love, dedication and commitment. This example has been a model for the entire Stacey family.

The joy of her life was visiting with her entire family. She cherished her relationship with her brothers, sister, nieces and nephews. Her children were the light of her life. She supported them in everything, bragged about their accomplishments, and provided never-ending encouragement and love. She had a unique relationship with each grandchild and each one has special memories. Annual three-week vacations were a tradition and provided the foundation for her to pass along her strong family principles of unconditional love. Clara’s faith, and her love for her Savior, Jesus, was her sustainment as her health deteriorated. She prayed each day for her family, shared her faith with whoever would listen, and was excited to join her husband in heaven.

Survivors are her son, Brent Jay (Sandy) Stacey of Idaho Falls; daughters, Irene (William) Hansen of Roosevelt, UT, and Janet (Sam) Peterson of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Verla Mueller. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Earl Jay Stacey; parents; brothers, Orvin McGavin, Wilford McGavin, and Glen McGavin; sisters, Wanda Shurtliff and Helen Leatham; and grandson, Lee William Hansen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Road). The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
