He came to America in 1907, landing Galveston,TX, later came to Albert, KS & made home with uncle and aunt J.Henry & Katharina (Schmidt) Hanhardt. Also for sometime with another uncle and aunt at Laredo, Ohio. Attended business school and college at Omaha, NE; employed by Union Pacific RR; came to Russell in 1912 and worked as telegrapher at depot for some time. Married 8 Jun 1914 to Amelia Strecker, blessed with 5 children who survive. Retired from Home State Bank of Russell in 1959.
Children: Mrs Margaret Anderson, Mrs. Dorothy Blevins, Mrs. Cathryn Danielson, all of Russell; Mrs. Gladys Ann Hawkins, Osawatomie; Gerald Schmidt, Topeka; 10 g; 3 g-g. his parents, 2 bros, sister presumably died during Russian revolution.
