HAVANA - Eugene Niederer, 29-year-old farmer of near Havana, died early this morning at St. John's Hospital in Springfield from extensive burns received earlier this week in a furnace explosion.
Attending physicians said Niederer's entire body was covered with third degree burns from the accident, and they had held little hope for his recovery.
The body was removed to the Himmel-Russell memorial home following release by the Sangamon county coroner, and complete funeral arrangements will be announced later.
