Retha Nell Adkins Taggart

Retha Nell Adkins Taggart, a resident of Reynolds Street in Midland City, died Wednesday night, Oct. 4, 2006, at her home. She was 70.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Randy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, near Echo. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 26 Reynolds St., in Midland City.

Mrs. Taggart was a native of the Old Center United Methodist Church Community, near Newville, in Henry County, daughter of the late S B Adkins and Bonnie Elmer Chancey Adkins. She lived in various locations in the Southeast before moving to Midland City in 1989. Mrs. Taggart graduated from the licensed practical nursing program at Wallace Community College. She was formerly employed by Southeast Alabama Medical Center, both at the hospital and the Headland Medical Group.

Mrs. Taggart was preceded in death by her husband, Grover E. Taggart.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Darlene Beech, Dothan; a son, Todd Taggart, and his wife, Danette Taggart, Dothan; four sisters, Bobbie McDaniel and her husband, Hugh McDaniel, Margaret McDaniel and her husband, Bobby McDaniel, Linda Gail Walker and Pam Adkins, all of Ozark; a brother, Jerry Adkins, and his wife, Julie Adkins, Cottonwood; five grandchildren, Megan Beech, Lucas Beech, Courtney Taggart, Jacob Taggart and Dalton Taggart.
