Avis P. Holdcraft, longtime Gaston resident and more recently of Muncie, died Monday in Ball Memorial Hospital.

Born in Madison County she came to Gaston with her parents and graduated from Gaston High School in 1925.

Mrs. Holdcraft worked for several years as office manager for Owl Heating and Oil Co. in Muncie before retiring in 1973. She was a member of Gaston United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose 712, and 500 Club of Gaston.

Survivors include a sister Verna (Mrs. Charlie) Ladd of Yorktown, three sisters-in-law, Marie (Mrs. William) Pittenger of Gaston and Eleanor (Mrs. Delbert) Pittenger and Nellie Carey, both of Muncie, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Parson Mortuary Adams Chapel with burial in Gardens of Memory. Calling at the mortuary is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.
