GASTON - Verna A. Pittenger Ladd, 101, passed away Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 at Ball Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Verna was born April 5th 1906 in Gaston to her parents Jesse and Julia Bryant Pittenger. She married her late husband of 62 years, Charley Ladd, together running the family in Harrison Twp.
She was the last of the twelve Pittenger siblings. For the past eleven years she lived with her granddaughter, Diana Broyles.
She was a member of the Borg-Warner Sympathy Club.
She loved to cook, cleaned houses and worked at the soda fountain in Gaston drug store and reaised a grandson Roy Ladd.
She is survived by one son, Charles Ladd, wife, Shirley of Redkey; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grand children; several neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Carolyn Barnett (husband Robert); and one grandson, David Barnett.

Funeral services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Gant Funeral Home, Gaston Chapel with Pastor Todd Brown officiating. Entombment will follow in the Elm Ridge Mausoleum, Muncie.
Griends may call Sunday at the funeral home 1-5 p.m. and one hour prior to services.
