Roy Wayne Hooper, 61, of Steele, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Sept. 20, 1950 in Caruthersville, he is the son of the late Frank Hooper and Helen Howard Johnson.
He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Sonny Johnson; two brothers, Jerry Hooper and Marvin Hooper; and one step-daughter, Amy Hicks.
Roy was a truck driver for K&D Trucking. He enjoyed driving the Toys for Tots truck in the Christmas parades for many years.
Mr. Hooper leaves three sons: Gary Wayne Hooper and Ronny Lee Hooper, both of O'Fallon, Mo., and Dylan Wayne Hooper of Cooter; Two daughters: Cassey Weaver of Senath and Paige Marie Odom of Caruthersville; Two brothers: Ricky Lynn Hooper of Hayti and James Ed Hooper of Jacksonville, Fla.; Five sisters: Wanda McFarland of Steele, Linda Babbitt of West Palm Beach, Fla., Peggy Vance of Hampshire, Ill., Nora Seaton of Horseshoe Lake, Ark., and Rebecca Lee of Pascola; His fiance, Contessa Hinklin, of Steele; Three step-children: Chase Walker of Cooter and Samnatha Rodgers and Matthew Crawford, both of Steele; and Nine grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Hooper were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Joe Smith officiating.
Burial was at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Jonathon Ganus, Bobby Jumper, Troy Watson, Dennis Perrydore, Howard Wright and Darrell Drew.
