Sue S. Holmsley lived a life of love, thoughtfulness and kindness to others. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, she entered Heaven on January 4, just two days after her 89th birthday. She was born in College Station, Texas and grew up in Austin where her father was a professor at the University of Texas. Later, as a student at the University, she met her husband, Fred, to whom she was married for 41 years until his death in 1983. In the course of her life she was a legal secretary and a court reporter. She went back to school after having children to add to her Bachelor's degree with the aim of becoming a teacher. She taught 3rd grade for many years and was one of the first teachers in the state of Texas certified to teach learning disabled students. After retirement from teaching she tutored students with learning difficulties for many years. She had a deep, consistent faith in Christ and served as elder, session member, greeter, and in other ministries. She was also an accomplished quilter and gardener. She is survived by her daughter Susan and husband Stephen, son Steve and wife Liz, grandchildren Alissa, Terrie, Jonathan, Sarah, Lauren and Ben as well as three great-grandsons. She was so dearly loved and will be deeply missed. A memorial service with reception following will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00AM at San Pedro Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Sunshine Fund or Music ministry at San Pedro Presbyterian. Arrangements by Sunset Funeral Home.
