Sue Merle Shepperd was born to John Preston and Sarah Brooksie Parker Shepperd. She had two siblings and they were Anne Enola and Ashley Parker Shepperd. Her father died in 1897 and her mother died in 1903 and Sue was 15 years old. In the 1910 Census, we find Sue living with her uncle, Alexander Jackson Parker in Karnes, Texas.
In 1916, Sue married Alonzo Bettis Cox and together they had three children. Their children were Bettis Merle, Enola Jean and Sue Shepperd Cox.
Sue passed away on October 4, 1929, at the age of 41.
