Raymond W. Patton, 81, of San Saba passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was born on September 21, 1930 to Zach and Sudie Patton in San Saba, Texas. On June 6, 2010, Boots married Bertha Bryant, and they resided in San Saba.Raymond, affectionately known as Boots by everyone, never met a stranger. He loved people and loved to be around people. He worked for many years for the city of San Saba. After retiring from the city, he spent much of his time playing dominoes with anyone willing to play. He loved playing the guitar and played at Eventide Nursing Home every Tuesday night. He also played in Lampasas every other week at Spring Oaks with a group of men that he enjoyed strumming with. Many yards and cemeteries were mowed by Boots as he was always willing to help others. He loved being outdoors and could be seen all over San Saba County visiting and enjoying life.Boots is survived by his wife, Bertha Patton of San Saba; daughter, Glenda Franklin and husband, Ronnie, of Abilene; grandchildren, Brad Childers and wife, Sherry of Clyde; Melissa Childers of Clyde; Bryana Minter and husband, Cephus of Abilene; Nick Davis of Clyde; Jennifer Sargee of Abilene; Zach Franklin of College Station; Justin Franklin of Abilene; Jessica Bryant and her 3 children; great-grandchildren, Alisha Dugan, Anthony Dugan, Conner, Cameron, Cira Sargee, Easton Minter, and Anna Childers; brother, Bryant Patton and wife, Valrea of San Saba; brothers-in-law, Charles Farr and family, of Blum; and Howard Farr and family, of San Antonio; sisters-in-law, Joyce Conway and husband, Tim, of Boise City, OK; W.H. and Nelda Gorman of Coleman and numerous nieces and nephews. Boots was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wanda Patton; his son, David Patton; step-son, Jimmy Bryant, Jr.; brothers, Prentice Patton and Preston Patton; and sisters, Annie Shipman and Gladys Lusty. Conducting the service were Brother Bob McClinton and Brother Sam Crosby. Jeff Pannell offered personal comments and the music was played by friends of Boots. Pallbearers were Steve Boyd, Jeff Pannell, Walter Lewis, Wayne Brown, Rodney Andrews, and Alvin Pavey.Interment was at China Creek Cemetery.
