BACK, Edward 91 of Willow Knoll Circle, Middletown, died Sunday morning, September 14, 2008 at the Willow Knoll (Liberty) Nursing Home following a short illness. He was born October 6, 1916 in Menifee County, Kentucky, the son of Scott Back and Emmalou (Richardson) Back. A veteran of World War II, he served in Germany and Austria. He was retired from Armco Steel and farmed for many years near Gratis, Ohio. Mr. Back was a member of the Breiel Boulevard First Church of God, a member of the Preble County Chapter of the Masonic Lodge, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Gertrude Garrett Back; two brothers and sisters- in-law, Charles (Zella) Back, and Preston (Myrtle) Back; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida (Jesse) Craft, Addie (Loren) Robertson, Imogene (Orville) Whitt, Corda (Omar) Wilson, Bethel (Dewey) Baker, and LaDeska (George) Howard. He is survived by a son, Eddy G. (Shirley) Back of Germantown; a daughter, Debbie Bruner of Germantown; three grandsons, Jeff (Susanne) Back and Chris (Jenny) Back of Germantown, Mark (Heather) Bruner of Camden; one granddaughter, Shannon (William) Longman of Germantown; five great-grandchildren, Leah, Alex, Brittany and AJ Back all of Germantown, and Sydni Bruner of Camden; and one sister, Florence (the late Herschel) Downing of Trenton. Ed is also survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends at Willow Knoll. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, September 17 at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with Dr. Eric Newell officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday until service time. Interment will be at the Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton.
