Herb's parents were from Maine. He was married to Verda L born 1889 in Missouri. A daughter, Edna, was born in MN in 1912 then a son, Gilbert in 1914 in MT. Because he was an artist, they moved around a lot. In 1930 Gilbert was his dad's assistant. Edna doesn't show up after 1920. Verda doesn't show up after 1930 when they lived in Detroit, MI., but in 1927 they were living in Waukesha, WI.

But Herb did marry Louise during the 30's. He built himself a shed in back of his house where he painted pictures and signs. He painted some murals in his home. I really admired them. In the backyard, he built an outdoor fireplace and made a garden around it then a stone wall with two openings. There were very large trees for shade. He was a quiet, gentle man.

HOUSE PHOTO WAS SENT BY A BARTLETT RELATIVE. This is the place Herb built and was referred to as a cottage. Herb had painted Murals on the shower walls and the bedroom wall. Louise drove this car for many years.
