Allen W. Stannard, 82, of Greenbush, died Sunday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital after a long illness.
Born Dec. 2, 1873 in the Town of Forest, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stannard, he attended schools in the Town of Forest and Greenbush.
On Feb. 9, 1899, he married Miss Ada Mayhew in Greenbush. She died Nov. 14, 1911, and on July 16, 1914, he married Miss Josephine Ramaker who died Dec. 18, 1937.
Four brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.
From 1902 until his retirement in 1937, he operated the Stannard General Store in Greenbush with his brother. He was a member of Cassia Lodge No. 167 F. and A. M Plymouth; Loyalty Chapter No. 118, Order of Eastern Star, Plymouth; and Sons of Union Veterans.
Survivors are two sons, George H. of Green Bay and Robert A of Sheboygan Falls; two daughters, Mrs. John (Alice) Erdahl of West Allis, and Mrs. Melvin (Lauretta) Dickmann of Plymouth; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wittkopp Funeral Home. The Rev. Glen Siferd, pastor of Sheboygan Falls Methodist Church and the Rev. Donald Stannard, pastor of Wesley Methodist Church, Manitowoc, and a nephew of the deceased, will officiate. Masonic services will also be conducted. Burial will be in Greenbush Cemetery. Members of the Sons of Union Veterans will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Tuesday until the time of services.
