Plymouth – Robert D. Stannard, 58, postmaster at Greenbush, died Thursday night at Plymouth hospital. He had been confined to the hospital since Tuesday, seriously ill for 10 weeks. He had been in poor health for 12 years. He was born Dec. 27, 1881, in town of Osceola, Fond du Lac County, son of Henry and Eunice Stannard. He attended the Northwestern Business College, Madison, and operated a general store at Greenbush. He retired two years ago.
He had been postmaster at Greenbush for the past 25 years. He had taught in the Sheboygan Business College until 1902. He entered the merchandise business with his brother, Allen W., who retired in 1937. The business is now carried on by his sons, Gilbert D. and Henry R. He married Myrta A. Williams of Glenbeulah, on Sept. 19, 1906. He was a member of the county and state postmasters association, the Plymouth Sons of Union Veterans. He became a clerk in to post office on Dec. 25, 1902, and was appointed postmaster on August 26, 1915.
Survivors are his wife, three sons and a daughter; William E, Milwaukee, Gilbert D, Henry R., and Eunice A., all of Greenbush, four grandsons, two brothers, Allen S., Greenbush and Dr. Gilbert, Sheboygan.
Funeral services will be at the Methodist church with the Rev. R. L. Green officiating.
