Funeral Services Friday for Oscar Petersen--

Oscar J. Petersen, 78, Centennial Towers, longtime resident of Grand Island, died early Wednesday morning in a local hospital. He had been seriously ill the past 4 weeks.

Funeral rites will be held at 1:30 Friday in Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. G. E. Haag will officiate. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call after 4 Thursday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Mr. Petersen was born at Palmyra, the son of A. P. and Kristine Petersen. He received his schooling at Palmyra. The family moved to a farm near Wolbach when he was a young man and he farmed there until his marriage.

He and Miss Anna Petersen were married April 14, 1917 at St. Paul.

They farmed near Wolbach until 1937, when they came to Grand Island, Mr. Petersen was employed by the Geer Lumber Company and later by the Tilley Nursery Co. He retired in 1957.

Mr. Petersen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Grand Island.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Raymond J. Petersen of Grand Island; 1 daughter, Mrs. Harry (Viola) Larson of Wolbach; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son and one sister.
