Final Rites for A. P. Petersen--
Funeral services for Andrew P. Petersen were held Saturday afternoon at 1:45 at the McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Albert officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jacob DeLaurant, Henry Henningsen, Joe Steenson, Perl Bower, George Rother and Andrew Christensen.
Misses Sandra Grossart, Deanna Marco, Clarice Thayer and Mrs. Phyllis Frost sang "Rock of Ages" and "I Hear a Voice of Jesus Say," accompanied by the organist Mrs. Clarence Thayer.
Anders Peter Petersen was born in Jagerspris Sjolland, Denmark on October 4, 1869 and departed this life at the hospital in St. Paul, Nebraska on October 15, 1958 at the age of 89 years and 11 days. He had entered the hospital after falling and breaking his hip at his home September 17.
He spent his boyhood years in his native land and at the age of 17 or 18 he made his first trip to the United States. Four years later he returned to Denmark to claim a bride in the person of Anna Christine Hansen. They were married after their arrival in New York City on March 5, 1891. Shortly thereafter the Petersens settled at Palmyra Nebraska. In 1897 they moved to Bennett, Nebraska, and in 1905 moved to Wolbach, Nebraska where Mr. Petersen spent the remainder of his life. He and Mrs. Petersen were married for 62 years prior to her death.
Mr. Petersen was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one daughter (Mrs. Jacob Hansen) one brother and one sister.
He leaves to mourn his passing one son, Oscar of Grand Island, Nebraska; a brother Lars of Tecumseh, Nebraska, 2 sisters, Mrs. Marie Fredericksen of Giltner, Nebraska and Mrs. Anna Petersen of Lincoln, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Mr. Petersen was well known in Wolbach, being the local drayman for a good many years. He worked actively until about 2 years ago. He was known by his friends as either "A. P." or "Andy" Mr. Petersen served on the board of one of the country schools in the Wolbach area for a number of years. He was a life member of the Lutheran Church, being baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Denmark.
In Wolbach, he was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran, and when it ceased to be, he became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. In his home life he was a very devoted man, caring for and serving his wife and children in sickness and health alike. All who knew him, knew a man of good principles, and one who stuck with a decision once made.
