WALTER HARVEY CORAM

Walter Harvey Coram, son of Caldona and Albert Coram, was born near Harmon, Okla. on January 29, 1913 and grew to manhood in this vicinity. He departed this life on June 7, 1966 near Aspermont, Texas.

On December 5, 1935 he was united in marriage to Beatrice Murry. To this union two children were born, Rex of Stratford, Texas and Darlene, who died in infancy.

Early in life he began taking part in Rodeos and was a top hand in any event in which he competed. Walter made many true long-lasting friends in the Rodeo field. After retiring from Rodeo work, he lived on his ranch near Harmon until his love for horse took him from his ranch to the Racing field. For several years he ran his own horses both in Canada and throughout the United States. He was an excellent Trainer and won many trophies in this field. His ability and efficiency as a Trainer resulted in his being selected three years ago as a trainer for the Four Sixes Ranch at Guthrie, Texas where he was employed until the time of his passing.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene, his father and two brothers, Elvin and Everett. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Beatrice of the home, his son Rex and daughter-in-law Carolyn of Stratford, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Dona Hamilton of Vici; four brothers and five sisters, Stella Yeatman of Enid; Iva Gleason of Kelseyville, Calif.; Rusty of Camargo; Perry of Montrose, Colo.; Hazel Moon of Kelseyville, Calif.; Virgil of Montrose, Colo.; Fern Billings of Vici; Irene Kelley of Cedarvale, Kan.; Delbert of Montrose, Colo., many other relatives and friends.

Walter was a devoted husband and father and gave his all for his family. He would often deprive himself to help others who were in need. He sincerely loved and admire little children and his association with them was always a tie of happiness, as evidenced by his smile and kindness to them.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 10, 1966 at 2:30 p.m. in the Vici Christian Church with Don Henry officiating.

Casket bearers were Fred Martin, Loyd Simmons, Hank Jones, Raymond Compton, John Snider and Pink Dickson.
