Duncan, Rev. Edward Luther-Was born in Scott, Tenn., on February 21, 1910 and deceased this life on September 27, 1976 at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 6 days. He was the son of the late Joseph Melvin Duncan and the late Susie Roberts Duncan. He was united in marriage with Gertie Acres on July 18, 1936. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Gertie Acres Duncan; four sons, Melbert of Columbus, Ohio, Joe of Arnold, Missouri, David of Oneida, and Joshua of Cincinnati, Ohio; six daughters: Sue Kendricks, Ann Kidd and June Bond all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Easter Holt of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lynn Fornash and Mary Hall both of Oneida; 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by one son, James Milford. He professed a hope in Christ and united with the Salem United Baptist Church in August of 1944 where he remained a faithful member until his death. Luther Duncan was ordained into the ministry in February of 1954. He was the pastor of the Mt. Zion United Baptist Church, the Winona United Baptist Church, and was at present the pastor of the Salem United Baptist Church. He had been pastor of the Salem Untied Baptist Church for 20 years and remained faithful until his death. He was a member of Scott County Lodge #670 F&AM, Scott County Scottish Rite and Shriner. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit; that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." Our loss is Heaven's gain!
