Gladys Lee Martin, 90, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at Tri Dent Medical Center in North Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Martin was born in Williamson County, daughter of the late William Green and Lorena Vaughn Sullivan, and most recently made her home in Summerville, S.C., but was a longtime Williamson County resident. She was a homemaker and member of Southall Church of Christ. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Martin; a son, Marvin "Bud" Martin; a daughter, Josephine Bowling; and granddaughter, Deborah Whitely. Survivors include five daughters, Aline Martin of Summerville, Claudine Whitely of Primm Springs, Lorena Council of Summerville, Jean Falkowski of Knightsville, S.C., and Linda Brown of Rockingham, N.C.; a brother, Elvis Sullivan of Crossville; a sister, Georgia Beard of Franklin; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Jim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gene Council, Dean Council, Jimmy Brown, Jason Brown, Jim Brown and Stan Falkowski. Visitation starts at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
