GALENA, Kan. — Leroy Sturgis, 61, Coming, Calif., formerly of Galena, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday at his home after an illness of several months.
Born Oct. 11, 1916, in Galena, he resided here most of his life. He moved to the State of California about 16 years ago. He was a mechanic and a veteran of World War II. He was married to the former Francis Nadine Chester. She died Nov. 21. [1977]
Survivors include six sons, Clark Sturgis, Galena, Keith Sturgis and Alan Sturgis, both of Corning, Calif., Frank Sturgis and Jim Sturgis, both of Rosewell, Calif., and Edwin Sturgis, Chico, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Longan, Miami, Okla.; two brothers, Donald P. Sturgis, Riverton, and Wayne Sturgis, Grants, N.M.; six sisters, Paulene Stibling, Baxter Springs, Alene Branton, Bishop, Calif., Mildred Simon, Pulaski, Iowa, Ruth Hinman, Parsons, and Jean Clemons and Marlis Patton, both of Kansas City; 14 grandcildren (sic) and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Brothers Mortuary, Corning, Calif. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Corning.
