Obituary:

BALLARD, Darrell L. - Of Flint, age 54, died Friday, March 21, 1997 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 1PM Tuesday, March 25, 1997 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Clarence Barnett officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to the Asthma Association. Visitation 4-9PM Sunday and 10AM-9PM Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Ballard was born in Flint, Michigan on February 8, 1932. He married Joyce Waara on April 17, 1950 in Flint. He was a member of the Flint Chess Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ballard was an Instructor at West Point. He retired from Buick Motor Division in 1977.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce; 3 sons, Albert and wife Janice of Flint, Greg and wife Star of Waukegon, Illinois, Ron and wife Barbara of Flushing; daughter, Kathy and husband David Kozlowski of Flint; 9 grandchildren, April, Michelle, Jill, Jayna, Naycie, Holly, Laura, John and Ron; brother, Herschell of Argentine; sister, Marvella and husband Floyd Howe of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Gerald.
