Julian Vincent "Hammer" Charette, age 54, of Red Cliff, WI died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, WI. He was born June 28, 1957 in Washburn, WI the son of Robert & Marilyn (Gordon) Charette.

He graduated from Bayfield High School in 1975 and worked at various jobs within the Red Cliff Community throughout his life. Julian was a very generous, social loving, caring, gentle giant of a man with a big heart. He enjoyed helping people out, usually asking nothing in return. Julian loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was on the softball fields or at the casino. He may be best known for being a "Landscape Beautification Specialist" (cutting grass). Julian was a member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and of St. Francis Catholic Church in Red Cliff.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Charette of Red Cliff, WI; a sister, Theresa (Ed) Basina of Oshkosh, WI; three brothers, Paul Charette of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Dave (Beth) Charette of Prescott, WI & Robert Charette Jr. of Red Cliff, WI; nephews, Jason Charette, Jacob Charette, Zachary Charette, Willy Charette, Alex Basina, Karl Basina & James Basina; nieces, Kaycee Charette & Turquoise Charette; two special friends, Gary "Doughboy" Defoe & Lillian "Tiger" Daley; other relatives & friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Charette Sr. and a nephew, Paul James Charette.

A visitation to celebrate his life will take place from 4 – 6 PM Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Red Cliff Elderly Center in Red Cliff, WI. A memorial service with Father Aaron Kalmon officiating will take place at 6:00 PM Friday with a feast to follow. A family graveside service and inurnment will take place at a later date in the St. Francis Cemetery in Red Cliff, WI.
